Albert Lee Wallace

Hello, my name is Albert Lee Wallace.  I am the 6th child of the union of Glen and Margaret Wallace.  I was born on June 22, 1944 in Morristown, Tennessee, Hamblen County.

I attended Judson S. Hill School; grades 1-8.  After elementary school, I attended Morristown College High School.  The new black high school was not yet completed.  About a month later, we moved to the newly completed West High School/Green Dragons.  I graduated high school in 1963.  I attended Morristown College for one semester.  I then went to work at Berkline for about one year.  In January of 1965, I was inducted into the United States Army.  My first week in the army was spent at Fort Jackson, South Carolina.  After a short period of time, I was sent to Fort Gordon, Georgia; where I took basic training.  After basic training, I was sent to Fort Polk, Louisiana for wheel vehicle mechanic school.  After Fort Polk, I was sent to Fort Knox, Kentucky for track mechanic school (working on tanks).  After completion of Track Mechanic School, I was sent to Germany, where I spent a year and half.

After my military duty, I returned to Morristown.  In 1967, I was hired at American Enka as an apprentice to become a mechanical mechanic.  After a year of training, I became Second Class Mechanic.  After five more years of training, I became a First Class Mechanic.  I worked at Enka for 38 years.  I now work for the City of Morristown.

I married my wife, Melvina Collins Wallace in 1968.  We have four children; Maurice (Lolita) Boseman, Darwin (Rita) Boseman, Jaylene Boseman, and Albert Terrance Wallace.  We have six grand children; Curvina, Rashawn, Darwin (DJ), Jazmyn, Tyler, and Hunter.  We also have four great grand children; Sanaiah, Tyrone, Devin, and Alisia.

While working at Enka, I went back to college under the G I Bill.  In 1975, I graduated from Walters State Community College with an A.S. Degree in Education.  God is Good.
