Wallace History

Anna Smith (born 1854) was a teacher and daughter to Sarah and Henry Smith (Knoxville, TN).  Anna married Richard Brazelton in 1870.  Their children are Walter, George, Mary (born August 1885), Jerry, Ada, William, Carrie, and Ella.  Mary (Mabel) married Samuel Wallace on November 4th, 1903.  Their children are Hazel, Gladys, and Glen.  According to the 1930 census Samuel was married to Josephine.  Their children are Elizabeth, Sereta, Sam Jr., Albert, Mary, and Estele.  Glen and Gladys lived with their aunt Ada and her husband Lawrence Howell and their children Richard, Thelma, Lawrence, Jr., and Almeda during this time.  Later Glen and Gladys lived with their grandmother, Anna Brazelton.  The 1940 census shows Glen Wallace and Margaret Wallace (Harper) lived on Prince Street with their children Leonard age 10, Glen Jr. age 5, Nathaniel age 3, Thaddeus age 1, Rosa Lena age infant. Momma Dee age 42 was also listed as living in the household.


Harper History

Vina (born 1851 - 1855) and brother, Henry Hipshire were born in Grainger County, TN.  According to family records,  Vina was sold to someone in North Carolina.   Vina Hipshire  married Joseph Horton (born 1851) in Caldwell, NC.  Their children are Mary (born 1870), Virginia (born 1873 - 1874), Lindsy (born 1877), Everett (born 1879 - 1881),  Lou (born 1883) and Alice (born 1885 - 1886).  Alice married Will Harper, son of Ike and Amanda Harper on March 5th, 1909. Their children were Bertrand (born 1907), Margaret (born 1912), and niece Mary (born 1907).  After the passing of Will, the family (Alice, Vina, Bertrand, and Margaret) moved to Morristown, TN between 1920 and 1930.
