Our first meeting was held on August 15, 2015. The purpose of this meeting was to lay the ground work for the event. Stanley Wallace is spear heading this event. We want to bring the families together so our off springs will know their relatives and in the future, will continue what has been started. We usually get together on sad occasions, so this would be an opportunity for our families to come together on a more joyous one. We had a rough estimate of about 150 people would attend. Everyone seems really excited about this getting done and is looking forward to an exciting weekend with all family members.
The dates that we have set in place, are July 28-31, 2016 in conjunction with the Reunion on the Ages in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Our activities would be July 28-30, 2016 in Pigeon Forge with the picnic being July 31, 2016 at Martin Luther King Park in Morristown, Tennessee. Stanley said he would donate $1,000.00 toward food for the picnic. It was discussed and decided that each person attending the picnic would pay $10.00 and children six and under would eat free.
We will have tee-shirts: each family member will be responsible for the purchase of his or her tee-shirt. We will have possibly two designs; and we will decide which one to use. The committee is to check on the cost of the royal blue shirt with white lettering or white tee shirt with blue lettering. It was suggested that each family member wear blue jeans and the tee shirt to take the family picture. Picnic Menu will include but not limited to: Hamburgers, hot dogs, fish, potato salad, baked beans, Cole slaw, and desserts. Catering committee chair will find out prices for picnic from caterer Rick and Tom Forrester.
