2016 Reunion Update #3

Our conference call was held on March 8, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. for the Wallace-Harper Reunion.  Those present on the conference call was:  Stanley, Adrian, Thaddeus, Rosa, Charles, Dot,  Davilla, Tony,  Missi, Sean, Renaee, and Barry.

The purpose of this meeting was to get some things finalized for the reunion.  The first thing that we discussed was getting a caterer for the Sunday picnic.  We decided on menu for the event which consisted of barbecued chicken, barbecued pork ribs, hamburgers, hot dogs, fish(whiting), corn on the cob, baked beans, cole slaw, potato salad, deviled eggs, green beans, rolls.  Albert Lee is to present our menu to the caterer to see if they can accommodate our request and if so how much it would cost.  We figured about 80-100 people for this event.

Our next item that was discussed was the “T” Shirts.  Our colors are royal blue with white lettering.  Sean is to work on a design and present it to us for review.  Maybe part of his design and part of Tori’s design can be combined to make our “T” Shirt.  The price of the “T” Shirt should be around $10.00 with larger sizes being a little more.  After we get our design finalized, Missi will be able to send design to the vendor and get a final price on the cost of each “T” Shirt.  In one of our emails Stanley thought this would be a good slogan for our “T” Shirts:  “Family Is Life’s Greatest Blessing

It was discussed that each family head would send their profiles to Sean to post on the web site.  His email is:  [email protected].  Stanley has created a work sheet for the family to keep up with each activity they will attend and total their cost as well.

The cost for each event:

Picnic is $10.00 for Adults; less for children

Motown Revue is $38.00 for Adults; less for children

“T” Shirts are $10.00; larger sizes will be more

It was suggested that we have a sheet cake at the picnic with “Wallace-Harper Reunion”  2016.

Our next conference call will be on the second Tuesday of April (April 12, 2016)

2016 Reunion Update#2

Our first conference call was on September 22, 2015 for the Wallace-Harper Family Reunion.  The meeting was called to order by Stanley Wallace.  The reading of the last minutes was read by Barry Wallace.  The order of the meeting was as follows:

1.        Recap of old business

2.       Individuals report on task status

3.       New business

4.       Family web page

Each person in charge of their committee gave a report of their status:

Davilla is to check on the water & inflatable toys for the kids.  It was mentioned that we couldn’t have them because of Parks & Recreation’s liability.

Cabin Search:  A few of us went to Pigeon Forge and checked out the Riverstone Spa & Resort.  Those of us that went decided that this would be an ideal place for our reunion.  Stanley reserved 4 units and told the others that they could reserve units and get the military discount if they reserved them under his name.  It was discussed and some family members thought River stone was expensive;, so Davilla has found another place not too far from Riverstone that others might be interested in:  Claboughcampground.com.  (1-800-965-8524) They have log cabins& vacation homes, 2 BR Cottages.

Barry Sean gave an overview of what the web site of wallaceharper.com would entail.   Only a few people would have administrative rights to the web site.  I think he said that anyone can post to any of the sites that are tied to the web site.  The other sites connected to wallaceharper.com are facebook, twitter, pinterest, & instagram.

There was a discussion about the picnic location.  It was decided that the first reunion would be held at Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Park in Morristown, Tennessee.

Missis Riddick was appointed to be over the games for the picnic.

Adrian mentioned if we should have name tags for the event.  Everyone thought this was a great ideal; so Adrian and Barry were assigned to be over that task.

A suggestion by Boogie was that we should start collecting money from those who plans on attending the event.  We will discuss this further during our next conference call.

Those on the conference Call were:  Stanley, Barry, Thad, Dot, Missi, Davilla, Boogie, Adrian, Rosa, Charles, Renaee, & Sean

It was agreed that we would have a conference call once a month until we get closer to the actual date.  Our next conference call will be on Tuesday October 20 at 6 P.M. Eastern Standard Time.

2016 Reunion Update #1

Our first meeting was held on August 15, 2015.  The purpose of this meeting was to lay the ground work for the event.  Stanley Wallace is spear heading this event.  We want to bring the families together so our off springs will know their relatives and in the future, will continue what has been started.  We usually get together on sad occasions, so this would be an opportunity for our families to come together on a more joyous one.  We had a rough estimate of about 150 people would attend.  Everyone seems really excited about this getting done and is looking forward to an exciting weekend with all family members.

The dates that we have set in place, are July 28-31, 2016 in conjunction with the Reunion on the Ages in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.  Our activities would be July 28-30, 2016 in Pigeon Forge with the picnic being July 31, 2016 at Martin Luther King Park in Morristown, Tennessee.   Stanley said he would donate $1,000.00 toward food for the picnic.  It was discussed and decided that each person attending the picnic would pay $10.00 and children six and under would eat free.

We will have tee-shirts: each family member will be responsible for the purchase of his or her tee-shirt.  We will have possibly two designs; and we will decide which one to use.  The committee is to check on the cost of the royal blue shirt with white lettering or white tee shirt with blue lettering.  It was suggested that each family member wear blue jeans and the tee shirt to take the family picture. Picnic Menu will include but not limited to:   Hamburgers, hot dogs, fish, potato salad, baked beans, Cole slaw, and desserts. Catering committee chair will find out prices for picnic from caterer Rick and Tom Forrester.
